Ricky James- Can’t Compare

With melodies that are reminiscent of late 90s punk-rock, Ricky James has crafted a sound that is unique within the current soundscape of the music industry. Over the last year, James has given us energetic songs that bring in many elements that blend rock, hip-hop, pop, and electronic all into one cohesive sound. After dropping his project ‘I’m a Loose Cannon.’ last year, the New York-based artist is back with his new self-produced record ‘Can’t Compare’.
‘Can’t Compare’ is Ricky’s first release of the year, and it’s a confessional record about seeing an old lover with someone that is completely different. The single is reminiscent of a Blink-182 song due to its anthem-like chorus and guitar riffs that mesh perfectly with the trap drums. Overall, ‘Can’t Compare’ is an innovative song, and the cross between punk and rap makes it impossible to not replay. If you are looking for a new song that you can belt to on those drives down PCH, this song will give you enough nostalgia to keep on repeat all summer.
