When it comes to music discovery, there’s a beauty in finding artists that are considered to be a breath of fresh air. This week, I was blessed to come across an emerging singer out of Hawaii named PawPaw Rod. PawPaw Rod is a rapper and singer that was born in Hawaii and raised in Oklahoma. With singles like “HIT EM WHERE IT HURTS” & “Lemonhaze”, PawPaw Rod has impressed with his brand of music that meshes rap, 60s soul, and house all into one sound. On his latest offering “Beautiful”, he blends a sound that seems heavily inspired by the likes of Steve Lacey and Bakar, and it is absolutely infectious.

The record is carried by lush melodies, bright sonics, and a chorus that will make you feel like you are floating on a cloud. In addition, the song’s pacing is also exceptional. Overall, PawPaw Rod has captivated me with his incredible vocal approach and relatable songwriting. With that being said, stream the song below and vibe out!
