Under her mystique and eclectic style, break out star, Ari Abdul, proves that she doesn’t have to play by the rules to make it. She has a ground breaking sound and her vocal range has had me hooked since I heard her single “Stay”. For those that are new to the buzzing star, Abdul has had a very captivating “origin” story. With her formative years spent in Catholic schools, Abdul was enamored with the story of Lucifer and the "fallen angel" narrative. Due to this, Ari and her best friend/ producer Thomas LaRosa worked to create a world inspired by the "loss of innocence and connection with one's self into a distorted, wicked version. This led to her recent EP “Fallen Angel” which has to be one of my favorite projects of the year. As its title suggests, Fallen Angel is a pop-noir work, levitated by alluring melodies and Abdul's warm, luminescent vocals. The EP's most alluring quality is how it gives you glimmers into who Abdul is, mingling tenebrous fantasy with her personal story. These twisted narratives come to life in tracks like her debut single, "BABYDOLL".

Now, the break out star debuts on our pages with her latest version of her single “BABYDOLL” called “BABYDOLL (Speed)”. The record has a warmth sonically that is so inviting. In addition, the record is carried by lush melodies, laced with warm tones, and her vocals are exceptional. This is what the industry has been missing. The record has an edge and a mystique that leaves you begging for more. Overall, this is one of my favorite releases of the year so check it out below.
