YASUKE THE JASHIN Shines On His Debut EP, “Valhalla”

Unless you live under a rock, then you probably have heard of emerging artist YASUKE THE JASHIN. Known for his unorthodox flows, innovative composition, and raw energy, he is one of the most prolific rappers out right now. There isn’t anyone in Hip-Hop that can even keep up with him. His flows are infectious, and his production is otherworldly. Blending elements of rock & alternative into his addictive brand of Hip-Hop is what sets him apart. As a writer, I’m constantly searching for artists like YASUKE. He is eclectic and doesn’t care to follow the rules. We have seen too many trends within rap, and I’m done with all the copycats. That’s why YASUKE enters the chat. He’s raw, genuine, and he is pioneer for this new generation of artists. After impressing me with his single “DRACULA!”, I knew he had the “IT” factor. Now, he debuts on our pages with his first official EP “Valhalla”.

For me, “Valhalla” is an abstract work of art that is left up to the interpretation to those that listen. The project is colorful, vibrant, and it is full of emotion. The reason I feel so connected to this album is due to YASUKE’s lack of filter. We are currently in a time where everything is either censored, or we feel as if we have to walk on eggshells around others. This project shatters that notion. With his exceptional vocals and raw songwriting, YASUKE shines from start to finish. My favorite songs from the album have to be “Purgatory”, “Bandit!”, & “Dark Crescent!”. “Bandit!” is pure energy, and it is laced with various flows that will catch your ear. Sonically, it sounds like the screamo rap that was coming out of Florida between 2015-2017. In addition, I love how chaotic it is, and the guitar riffs in the production are captivating. “Dark Crescent!” is a bouncy record laced with hard hitting 808s and a hook that will make you want to run through a wall. The record is a rage filled anthem. “Purgatory” features Cade Clair & Kandi Lake. This has to be my personal favorite due to the subject matter and melancholic feel. It is a slower record compared to the others, and we hear a more emotional YASUKE. “Purgatory” is introspective and it expressed the hardships and tribulations that he has to go through. “Valhalla” is my favorite EP of the year, and I can’t wait to hear more from YASUKE. He will be a star soon.
