There’s truly nothing like the high you get when you listen to a really good song for the first time. Although it’s hard to explain, the jolt of electricity that pulses through your veins in unison with the sound of captivating sonics is unlike anything else. I say this because this feeling is often rare. That’s why I love music discovery. With thousands of songs and artists emerging every day, it’s almost like winning the lottery when you come around an artist or song that really grabs your attention. Since the start of 2023, I can say that I have only felt this high three times. That was until I heard rising singer-songwriter Wingtip (a.k.a Nick Perloff-Giles). The San Francisco-bred artist has been building a dedicated following with his innate ability to craft uplifting & often buoyant pop singles that are relatable. I don’t know what it is, but he has one of those voices that makes you feel safe and comforted. He’s a genuine artist and you can tell he makes his music with intention & purpose. After initially impressing me with his single “Down (Exit Song)”, the rising musician debuts on our pages with his groundbreaking EP “Get Well Soon”.

“Get Well Soon” is a cohesive body of work that reflects on life, time, relationships, and living in the moment. As someone who is in my late 20’s, it’s scary to think of the unknown, and it’s even harder to realize when you are getting older. We often stress the need to do “everything” all at once, and this body of work does a great job of embracing that.

From start to finish, Wingtip delivers a musical masterclass. “Mr. 29” finds Wingtip embracing the moment while his record “Talk” finds him dealing with the aftermath of a tumultuous relationship. Although the subject matter on “Talk’ is about a break-up, the upbeat sonics make this an absolute hit. My personal favorite “Manipulator” which was a lead single has his best vocal performance. His vocals were reminiscent of Coldplay’s Chris Martin at times. All around, this was a complete record. I loved the warm production, engaging acoustics, and the percussion was exceptional. Now, if I had to tell you what song is going to captivate most listeners, it has to be “Goodbye” featuring Paul Russell. The record is a salute to starting over and embracing the future even if it’s unknown. “Goodbye” is the perfect farewell. The record is carried by an ear-worm hook, exceptional song arrangement, and an unforgettable verse from Paul Russell. This is the summer anthem that everyone has been waiting for. With that being said, Wingtip has truly made a fan out of me, and this has to be one of my top 5 projects of 2023. So, stream the EP below and vibe out!
