Hailing from San Gabriel Valley, CA, emerging Hip-Hop emcee, Wildcard, has taken over the world by storm in recent years. After a troubled childhood, the rapper has used his pain & struggles to craft a sound that is raw, reflective, and relatable. He is the true meaning of an artist. Due to this, he has been able to develop a dedicated fanbase. Describing his sound, I would say that his songs are carried by memorable hooks, creative lyrics, and fiery guitars from time to time. It’s strong Hip-Hop with a Blues chaser.

As a driving force, Wildcard has collaborated with the likes of Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan, Hopsin, Mobb Deep, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Madchild, Slaine, and more. Now, after the success of his previous album “Change in Cabin Pressure”, he returns with his fiery new album “Western Promises”.

“Western Promises” is Wildcard’s 7th studio album. It is a reflective journey that was influenced by self-exploration, personal battles, and it pays homage to the two places he has called home (San Gabriel Valley, CA & Spokane, WA). For me, Wildcard uses the album to showcase his refined skill and precision on the mic. Lyrically, he delivers with unfiltered honesty and boldness while addressing a wide range of topics. The seasoned veteran shines with the raw authenticity in his words that make his narratives relatable and engaging, capturing the listener’s attention and emotions. My favorites from the album were “Cali Driver ft. A-Wax)”, “Pink Diamonds”, & “The Chaser”. “Pink Diamonds” is an introspective record that is carried by insightful commentary & his trademark humor. The record discusses the significant individuals he’s encountered along his journey, the wisdom amassed over time, past street-related escapades, and his connections with women resembling Leah Remini. I truly loved the melodies on this one. “Cali Drive (ft. A-Wax) is another great record. It’s a hard-hitting song that discusses dating sexually skilled women, rolling with killers, and exercising demons on tracks. Johnny Slash absolutely killed the production. “The Chaser” is top tier. That song rides on this rebellious, rock-infused beat that hits harder than Manny Pacquiao’s punches. Wildcard faces the beat head on, and he attacks with precise bars and memorable delivery. “Western Promises” is a work of art. The 12-track album is cohesive, and it shows Wildcard’s unnerving drive. It is a testament to Wildcard’s growth, dedication, & artistry.

Western Promises is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms via Quality Music.
