With roots that trace back to humble beginnings in Australia, emerging artist, SonOfHarry, has taken the industry by storm. At only 21-years-old, Harry Cleverdon (aka SonOfHarry), is one of the most polarizing artists in the industry. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Pink Floyd, Queen, Hozier, & Matt Colby, he has been able to craft his own innovative indie-alt sound. He is raw, daring, and his captivating record continue to leave audiences in awe. I have yet to find an artist grab my attention like he has. Now, he enters our pages with his debut concept album “The World Has Gone Mad”.

“The World Has Gone Mad” is a genre-defying album that takes listeners on a sonic journey that leaves a lasting impression. He dives into the intricacies and ebbs & flows of living in a world that has lost its way. The Canberra-based artist proves his lyrical prowess, and his vocals throughout the album were exceptional. Over the 12 tracks, SonOfHarry delivers a compelling story that builds from song to song. “The World Has Gone Mad” is not just an album, it is a testament to SonOfHarry’s growth as a singer-songwriter. This is his beautiful introduction to his new artistic journey.

Sonically, the album is otherworldly. With a cinematic soundscape, SonOfHarry weaves from song to song utilizing melodic synths, orchestral arrangements, blues rock-guitars, and enchanting vocals. If you want a great introduction to a new artist, look no further. SonOfHarry is everything I have been looking for in an artist. My favorite songs from the album were “Into”, “Paradise, Pt. 1”, “Moments Of Beauty”, & “Alien”.

“Into” is an ethereal song that is carried by a gorgeous soundscape featuring keys, thunderous drums, and soundbites. Sonically, “Paradise, Pt. 1” was one of my favorites. The record has a pop-rock soundscape and I loved the atmospheric feel and twangy guitars. “Moments Of Beauty” is laced with lush vocal melodies, engaging instrumentation, and I loved the songwriting. The record further showcases his ability on all cylinders. “Alien” is my favorite record. From a songwriting standpoint, it dives into themes of escapism & disconnect. I find this to be extremely relatable. The soulful vocals mesh with the soundscape and takes the song to another level. “Alien” is one of those memorable tracks that is carried by dynamic shifts, powerful choruses, and captivating guitar solos. Overall, “The World Has Gone Mad” is one of the best albums of the year. So, stream it below!
