Music discovery has been and will continue to be about finding the artists that are set to change the entire industry. In a time where music feels formulaic and emotionless, I continue to search for artists that are pioneering this next generation. Regardless of monthly listeners and hype, all I care about is the music. What story are you trying to tell? What sets you apart from the rest of the industry? Do I can connect with this? These are all questions that I try to answer when finding new artists. This week, I came across an artist that has caught my attention. That artist is Sadie Campbell.

With roots that go back to humble beginnings in Canda, the Nashville-based artist has taken the industry by storm. She is mesmerizing, daring, and her music speaks to your soul. It is very rare that I fall in love with an artist on the first listen, but she has me hooked. There is a rawness to her that makes it easy to connect with. Now, she enters our pages with her debut album, “Metamorphosis”.

“Metamorphosis” is an 11-track masterpiece that I consider to be her magnum opus. The album is introspective, captivating, and the songs have substance. In a time where most music is formulaic, it’s amazing to hear an artist craft songs from the heart. That’s what we deserve and should expect from rising artists, and Sadie Campbell rises to the occasion. Sonically, the album spans a variety of genres while discussing the ups & downs of a long drive. These songs evoke raw emotions out of those who listen, and I loved how she blended elements of alternative, rock, & soul into this project. It shows her versatility and ability to make music we can all connect with. This is what she had to say about the album:

“On a road trip, you’re going through different scenery, through tall mountains and then total flatlands. You have beautiful and sunny mornings, and then the sun goes down, and everything is moodier. That’s similar imagery to the songs on my debut album, 'Metamorphosis'- there’s drastic differences in the dynamics and themes of the songs- just like a great road trip.

It’s a variety of light and dark—different scenery, moods, and themes all together on the same project. I wanted this record to have songs about these totally polar opposite topics, because that’s life. Songs about anxiety and hopelessness can live on the same record as love songs and hopeful songs.”

My favorite songs were “Second Chance” & “Saved”. Overall, this is one of the best albums I have listened to this year, and it deserves your attention. With that being said, stream the album below and follow her on the links below!
