Vancouver-based Londoner, Rian Peter (aka IAMTHELIVING), is an artist that needs to be in your rotation. His music is raw, daring, and it has substance that I feel a lot of music is missing nowadays. Sonically, he incorporates elements of funk, r&B, & soul to craft a sound that is both bright & captivating. His music is dynamic, and I believe that is the reason he is a Juno Award nominee. Personally, his melodies and songwriting are unlike any other artist I have heard as of recent. Although I was recently introduced to the artist, I know he has that “IT” factor. Now, he enters our pages with his debut album, “Nebra Sky”.

“Nebra Sky” is a refreshing 13-track album that was made for those that love music where the artist pours their heart & soul. The album is carried by songs that are laced with classic soul textures that were crafted for the modern ear. Vocally, this is one of the best performance I have heard on an album this year. From his vocal tones to his execution, IAMTHELIVING was flawless. Sonically, the dynamic production was the cherry on top.

Over the course of the album, he mixes his typical style with a slightly more commercial sound that I believe will help this album appeal to the masses. When you’re an artist with this much talent, you have to do what you can to reach the masses while keeping your core sound. IAMTHELIVING successfully does that.

My favorite songs from the album were “I’ll Get It Done”, “Let’s Talk About It” & “Can’t Be Replaced”. In my opinion, those songs hit me in a way that made we want to relisten to the album over & over. However, if I were to recommend one song, “I’ll Get It Done” would be the choice. The record is a bold song, and it is his most mainstream song to date. Personally, this album is what modern r&b should sound like. This album sets the bar for the rest of 2024 & 2025. If you have never heard of IAMTHELIVING, let’s make sure to change that. He is a star that is ready for his moment! Stream his album below and vibe out!
