Emerging artist, Ken Valor, is quickly taking over. Hailing from New York, NY, Valor has quickly built a dedicated fanbase with his sound that blends elements of r&b & hip-hop. He is independent, and he is heavily skilled in what he does. Although he is still finding his footing commercially, he already has the “IT” factor. What he lacks in popularity, he makes up for it with his bravado, exceptional delivery, and knack for making hits. In my opinion, he’s one of the most polarizing artists in his generation.

Now, the emerging hitmaker debuts on our pages with his groundbreaking project “Wont Forget Me”. The EP follows the release of his album “Leave Me To My Sorrow”, and this may be his best work to date. At only 5-tracks, the EP is direct, cohesive, and Valor’s sound is more refined than ever. Valor seems to be operating with a different level of confidence and bravado. In addition, that confidence doesn’t stop him from absolutely pouring his heart out on these records. The EP is refreshing, and it will surely evoke raw emotions out of its listeners.

The EP opens with the captivating “Just Friends”. The record is laced with engaging synths, dynamic production, and his vocal performance is exceptional. At times, he reminded me of a more focused and hungrier version of Bryson Tiller. His notes were on, and he managed to stay in the pocket while making a song that you can listen to on a day at the beach. I loved everything about this track from the vocals, production, and the overall ambiance. The EP transitions to the dark and cinematic soundscape of “BARBADOS” featuring Urban Legend. This song is an absolute banger. Full of raw energy, Valor cuts through the trap-styled production with precision. He leaves no prisoners. This is one of my personal favorites. Throughout the EP, each song unravels a different layer of the burgeoning artist. He introduces listeners to the atmospheric single “Secrets” that showcases his exceptional singing abilities. He makes use of mellow cadences and soft layered harmonies to drive home this message of betrayal and heartbreak. Valor lands the plan with his singles “WINS & LOSSES (Bonus)” & “Handle It (Bonus)”. For those that are still new to Ken Valor, I feel sorry for you. The kid is the real deal. He has a high ceiling, and I can’t wait to watch him blow up!
