Estrada Shines On His Mesmerizing EP, “Public Secret”

Public Secret is the debut EP from emerging “foogaze” artist Estrada. Throughout the EP the emerging vibe curator finds his footing with a 90s soundscape that provides comfort and brings all the nostalgia. Over the last decade, we have seen a resurgence of artists looking to bring back the indie-alt vibes of the late 90s & early 2000s. However, I have seen only a few get it right. Estrada is one of the few artists excelling in this soundscape, and he enters our pages with his mesmerizing new EP “Public Secret”.

The EP feels like a nod to anyone that feels unheard or lacks a voice. It’s almost as if he is giving people a helping a hand as you listen through the emotional journey that he takes you on. Sonically, the project is cohesive, and I enjoyed the sonic arrangement from each song. “Public Secret” is a 6-track shoegaze masterpiece that shines due to its more melancholic side.

The EP opens with the upbeat lo-fi jam “iwantuall4me”. Its upbeat chorus contrasts well with the reverb drenched vocals & fuzzy guitars. The EP then dives into my personal favorite “Floating”. At its core, the record is more introspective than some of the other songs. There’s more weight to the song, and it has a more melancholic soundscape that will have you engaged from start to finish. I really liked the production arrangement, vocal performance, and the sonic progression on this song. In addition, the song radiates with glistening guitar tones and heavy drum. Inspired by the delicate and ambient sounds of Shoegaze. Although it leans more on the ethereal side of things, everything about this record feels right.

Following “Floating”, we are then introduced to the moody title track “Public Secret” & then leads to “finallyfoundyou”. Another personal favorite of mine is “Esta Noche Que Sali”. The record is an alt-pop masterpiece that’s brought to life with its hectic beat. Although it can be hectic, it has a peaceful side that’s ended with an ambient instrumental outro. The EP lands the plan with its most emotional track “Distance”. It’s a gloomy & blissful track that deserves to be heard. Overall, this is one of my favorite releases of the year so stream the EP below.
