When it comes to music, I am always searching for rappers & artists that defy genre norms and push the boundaries. I yearn to hear the unheard, and I fight for those that I believe deserve to have a voice. Although the industry is very saturated, there are these rare times when I come across a diamond in the rough. This week, I was impressed when I came across emerging rapper Kaizen Vibez.

Hailing from the east coast, Kaizen has been known for his prolific delivery and diverse soundscape. He’s versatile, raw, and he is captivating. For me, his songs are the perfect combination of poetry, braggadocios lyrics, powerful messages, otherworldly cadences, and engaging production. He is everything you would want in a rising artist. The reason I’ve become enthralled in his rise is because his story is authentic. Like many artists, he hasn’t had it easy. He’s had real life events that have made him sideline his dream. However, his love and journey never stayed halted. Even when it felt like he had to take breaks, that didn’t mean he was letting go of his goals to be a rapper. Now, he debuts on our pages with his latest album, “Vintage Verses”.

“Vintage Verses” is a transformative album that serves as his magnum opus. The album is a testament to his journey, and his unwavering drive to be more. Diving into multiple themes, the 19-track album discusses loss, relationships, daily struggles, and the search for freedom. From start to finish, you get the most authentic version of the rapper. He’s resilient, direct, and he brings a fire that can’t be put out. Over the indie-driven cinematic production Kaizen doesn’t skip a beat. My favorite songs were “Stand Up 8” & “Champion Era” with Abstraktius Artimus. “Stand Up 8” is an optimistic track about reaching your aspirations and fighting through adversity to become more. The record is laced with brooding keys and the lyrics are inspirational. This a reflective record that is made for the hustlers and grinders. Lyrically, the song will make you want to face all your fears head on. “Champion Era” is a triumphant song featuring Abstraktius Artimus, and it is carries by smooth flows, and captivating production. Lyrically, this was my personal favorite. Kaizen came correct and Abstraktius was the cherry on top. The hook was otherworldly. Overall, this album lived up to the hype, and I consider it to be one of the best this year.
