Music discovery has been and will continue to be about finding the bands that are set to change the entire industry. In a time where music feels formulaic and emotionless, I continue to search for bands that are pioneering this next generation. Regardless of monthly listeners and hype, all I care about is the music. What story are you trying to tell? What sets you apart from the rest of the industry? Do I can connect with this? These are all questions that I try to answer when finding new bands. This week, I came across a band that has caught my attention. That band is Muràl.

Hailing from Naples, Italy, indie/alt-band Muràl has taken the music industry by storm. They are innovative, daring, and their sound is captivating. Sonically, they craft dynamic records full of rich instrumentation and personable lyricism. After listening to their single “Close To You” last year, I knew they had that “IT” factor. Now, the debut on our pages with their latest EP, “If You Felt Wrong Was Only My Fault”.

“If You Felt Wrong Was Only My Fault” is a 4 track EP that reflects on interpersonal relationships, the complexity of human emotions, and the trials and tribulations of a relationship. For anyone that has been in a long-term relationship, this is the EP for you. Personally, I loved the passion and edge on each song. For the last year, I have felt music has felt “flat”, but this EP has brought back my love. This is a project that makes it okay to be vulnerable, and I believe we all should try to communicate and express our emotions better after listening to this.

My favorite songs were “Wake Up Call” & “Close To You”. “Wake Up Call” is a vibrant record carried by soulful vocals and a memorable chorus. The song is lively and emotional at the same time. This is a record that explores heartache. As someone who just lost his girlfriend to cancer, this song hit me hard. “Close To You” is another exceptional record. It is a captivating indie-pop song laced with dynamic sonics and bouncy production. I was a huge fan of the acoustic guitar riffs. Overall, this is one of the best albums I have heard this year. If you are looking for new music, look no further. This is the album you NEED right now!
