Hailing from Copenhagen, emerging singer-producer, HunBjørn, is a genre-defying artist that can’t be put into a box. She has immense talent, and she is known for her dreamy electro-pop sound that has brought together listeners globally. The much-acclaimed Danish artist initially caught my attention with her EP’s “In Vacuo” & “Next Summer”. Since then, she has continued to build her staple sound, and she has captivated listeners with a sound that evokes raw emotions. Now, the burgeoning star debuts on our pages with her new EP “In The Eye”.

“In The Eye” is a 5-track explorative EP that dives into topics about the body, desire, anger, and sex. Sonically, the electro-pop laced production provides a colorful canvas while HunBjørn exposes a connection between honest vulnerability and raw strength. The EP is raw, captivating, and it is refreshing to be able to connect with an artist on a personal level like I did with this. HunBjørn is the definition of a true artist. She doesn’t shy away from the hard topics, and she embraces her faults and uniqueness. In a time where we value processed records with no real meaning, her refreshing sound provides a glimpse of hope that there are still artists that are making music with heart & soul!

My favorite songs from the EP have to be “In The Eye” & “When You Wing It”. “In The Eye” is an atmospheric record that is laced with elements of dance & alt-pop. I loved the synths on the record, and I feel like there were elements that were reminiscent of Daft Punk due to how heady & groovy the song was. As far as theme, “In The Eye” discusses the theme of forbidden desire. Overall, I loved the melodies, pacing, and lyrical focus. “When You Wing It” is another synth-driven record with a lovely bassline. I loved her vocal cadence and I felt it was in the pocket. The hook on this record was otherworldly, and she showed that she can make it hits effortlessly.

As a project, “In The Eye” is one of my favorite finds. The project an insight into a feminine view of anger, desire, need and vulnerability. For me, this is her magnum opus, and it only makes me excited to see what is to come from the burgeoning star. So, stream the project below and vibe out!
