What do you get when you turn an emerging pop artist and a popular YouTuber into a music group? You get Buddiez! Buddiez is the newest music duo, and the duo is made up of Justin Escalona (Owner of 1340 Collective/Youtuber) and Gianni Taylor (Singer). Although the beginnings of the group started as a joke, after creating some songs here and there, the duo finally locked in and got serious. Now, they enter our pages for the first time with their debut self-titled album ‘Buddiez’.
On the first listen, I got a Chainsmokers vibe due to the composition and pop/EDM sound that was carried throughout most of the songs. The project has a very upbeat-feel and most of the songs have nostalgic anecdotes that depict the angsty side of growing up. Although there are some songs that sound more like ideas than completed works, the album is a great introduction for the duo. You can see that there is a lot of talent between the two, and the personal songwriting helps engage listeners with relatable moments that bring back nostalgic memories. I was super impressed with the album, and I can only hope that the duo decides to drop more music. With that being said, we believe you should give this album a listen ASAP!
