Tru-Lee & Shay On The Beat Connect On Their Latest Album, “Boy Meets World”

Music discovery has been and will continue to be about finding the artists that are set to change the entire industry. In a time where music feels formulaic and emotionless, I continue to search for artists that are pioneering this next generation. Regardless of monthly listeners and hype, all I care about is the music. What story are you trying to tell? What sets you apart from the rest of the industry? Do I can connect with this? These are all questions that I try to answer when finding new artists. This week, I came across an artist and producer that have caught my attention. That duo is rapper Tru-Lee, and the producer is Shay On The Beat.
Tru-Lee is an emerging artist that has captivated audiences with his smooth cadences and songwriting prowess. He is raw, daring, and he has the flair to keep you hooked. To add to his list of talents, Lee knows a good melody when he hears one. The warmth of his vocals carry whether he is rapping or singing. Recently, the burgeoning star connected with the talented producer Shay On The Beat to create a project that blends elements of r&b, hip-hop, and house. It’s a global project that brings together different regions and people of all musical backgrounds. That project is “Boy Meets World”.
“Boy Meets World” is a 15-track masterpiece that I consider to be one of the most innovative albums of 2024. The reason I’m so drawn to it is because of how cohesive it is sonically. In today’s industry, most albums feel like a collection of songs, but this album is different. This is two talented people creating something bigger than them. They are trying to bring REAL music back.
My favorite songs were “SILENCE” & “FEELINGS”. “SILENCE” is a dynamic record carried by bouncy production. I loved the atmospheric feel of the song because it took me to another place. Personally, I think this may have been the best vocal track. The smooth harmonies and his vocal tone were a chef’s kiss. “FEELINGS” is another great song. This is a record that shows Tru-Lee speaking to someone special. This was a great change of pace. Overall, this album was one of the best I have heard this year.
