Unless you live under a rock, you have heard of emerging rapper BdotJeff. Known for his prolific flows and exceptional pen game, the Columbus-based MC has everyone in a chokehold. He is raw, genuine, and his lyrical prowess is unmatched. In my opinion, there isn’t anyone in the mainstream that holds a candle to the rapper. In an industry where everyone is chasing virality, BdotJeff takes pride in creating records that are expressive and expansive. His unconventional flows and his ability to challenge the norm have made him one of the most polarizing artists out. Now, he enters our pages with his latest EP “DLC Season 1”.

“DLC Season 1” is a testament to BdotJeff’s growth as an artist, and he showcases his versatility and maturity as a songwriter. Using multiple styles sonically, he enlists his bandmates Sara Smith, Bela Peresta, & xDiggityDee to help bring his project’s vision to life. The quartets collaborative effort delivers an experimental album that fuses elements of Hip-Hop, Punk, Metal, & R&B into one well-crafted sound. The records are cohesive, infectious, and the songwriting is relatable. In my opinion it’s one of the best projects of the year, and it features collaborations from JAMPOP, Fanaticus, Token Antagonist, and his late best friend, Cean “Maliqe” Brooks. Collaboration done right leads to beautiful projects like this. BdotJeff proves he has the “IT” factor. Overall, this is a must-listen EP. My favorite songs were “My Baby Pt.2 / Shine (ft. JAMPOP)”, “few.”, “TBRYNH”. With that being said, take a listen to one of the albums of the Summer.
