When it comes to music discovery, I always find myself searching for artists that are willing to bring listeners into their world. I yearn for artists that are looking to push the boundaries lyrically & sonically. Because of that, I find myself searching for disruptors that refuse to align with the genre norms. Although it’s often hard finding these artists, it feels like I hit the lottery when I do. This week, I came across a diamond in the rough named Auric Echoes. Auric Echoes are a West Virginia alt-rock band that are known for crafting daring records that evoke raw emotions out of their listeners. They are mesmerizing, captivating, and memorable. You can feel their heart & soul in every record, and their star power has only continued to grow. Now, they enter our pages with their 3rd studio album, “Division for Human Ascension”.

“Division for Human Ascension” is a transformative album that can be considered as the band’s magnum opus. On their latest album, they bear it all, and the thrive off of their versatility and innate ability to bring unrelenting energy to their records. Auric Echoes can’t be put into a box, and this album showcases them leaning more into their eclectic influences. The 10-track album is unlike anything I have heard this year. Each song transports listeners into a new world and psyche meticulously calculated by the band. This is a sonic journey that you won’t want to end.

When it comes to the individual songs, my personal favorites were “Multiplicity” & “I See Smoke”. “Multiplicity” is laced with engaging synths, and intoxicating flutes that create this hypnotic feel. You almost feel as if you are floating through time. “I See Smoke” features some of the best sonics. Sonically, the song carries an eerie feel & it showcases the band’s ability to craft atmosphere and unpredictable structural turns. Overall, “Division for Human Ascension” lives up to the hype. It is an album the dives into themes of post-humanism, existential dread, an over-reliance on technologies and convenience, and digital consciousness. For me, it is one of the most impactful projects I have heard this year. With that being said, make sure to download and stream the project when it releases on July 12th.
