Captivating, mesmerizing, and daring are all words that describe R&B’s new “IT” girl, Anayka She. Hailing from Flatbush, Brooklyn, Anayka has taken the music industry by storm. The Panamanian content creator & singer, has captivated audiences with her innate ability to evoke raw emotions out of her listeners with her refreshing sound that blends contemporary soul & R&B. She is raw, sensual, and she is bringing back real R&B. Now, she debuts on our pages with her electrifying EP, “SHE”.
“SHE” is a 7-track EP that puts Anayka’s ability on full display. In my opinion, she invites you into the mind of a girl in her 20s that is navigating life, love, mental health, & trust. Diving into her feelings, she creates an introspective project that is both daring and optimistic. Bearing it all, her EP is more that just one time listen. It is a safe space for all women, and it opens your eyes to finding one’s own freedom & strength. Sonically, I found the EP to be cohesive, and her vocal delivery was exceptional. The way she was able to switch vocal tones & melodies paired well with her songwriting prowess.
The records that stood out to me were “Touch” & “Mr. Right Now”. “Touch” is a vibrant record laced with lush melodies, engaging vocals, and her hook is a chef’s kiss. I loved the warmth of her vocals, and her cadences were hypnotic. “Mr. Right Now” is more of a slow jam, but the lyrics were exceptional. This is the type of record that showcases her mature songwriting ability. Overall, this is one of the best projects of the Summer so make sure to stream it below. Anayka has the “IT” factor!
