When it comes to musical duo’s, Calabasas has to be one of the best out. The duo is compromised of Los Angeles-based artists Watrcup and Frankskiiz, and they are producing some of the most unique music out right now. They have an ability to bury personal experiences into boisterous alternative pop that has elements of hip-hop, r&b grooves, electronic waves, and cinematic flourishes. In addition, they seem to keep garnering success with previous singles such as “Beaujolais” and “First Time Thing”. Now, the duo links with Marc E. Bassy on their new hit titled “Voices”. “Voices” is a smooth track led by lush melodies and innovative production and the accompanying visual is just as good!
In the visual for the record, we are first introduced to a couple enjoying time together before examining a person who is looking at past photos of a person they loved. I believe they wanted to show how they were done wrong by a girl who moved on quickly after leaving them. As the video progresses, we learn that their insecurities pushed them to to see if this girl would truly be unfaithful and it seems like their deceptive plan to catch her in the act worked with the help of another. The visual is bright and offers scenic shots and a narrative that will have you glued to the screen. With that being said, check the video out above!
Lyrics That Stick:
“All the words I never said, Turn to voices in my head
All the signs I should've read Ooh, They turn to voices in my head”
