As a writer, I love when you can feel an artist’s confidence through their records. Although Hip-Hop is the genre that has been the trend setter for the last decade, I’m always searching for rappers that are pushing the sound forward. This week I came across New Mexico-native Varnell Hill. For those that are new to Varnell, he is the most versatile artist out here. He is an artist, producer, songwriter,and shoe designer. After aligning himself with Mike Lynn from Aftermath, Hill is set for a big year. Now, he debuts on our pages with his hit “CREW CRAZY”.
The record is a bouncy hit that features catchy vocal cadences and a hook that will have you going crazy at your next pre-game. His vocal delivery and tone are exceptional. In addition, I love how dynamic the song is sonically. Overall, this is a must-hear record. Varnell has our attention, and we are excited for what’s to come!
