When it comes to rap, Cal Scruby has always been up there with the best in hip-hop. With his clever lyricism and punch lines that could even knock out Mayweather, Cal brings his standout out song ‘Underground’ to life. With it being one of the most memorable songs from his album titled ‘While You Were Sleeping’, Cal is back on our pages to present the visual presentation of his hit record.
With production led by a smooth acoustic guitar melody, it was only fitting to set the video in what seems like the sun-dried desert of Califonia. As Cal glides over the beat, we see him roaming around in the blazing sun with a metal detector searching for what we later find out is himself. From my interpretation, it looks as if Cal believes he is a hidden gem within a music landscape that is full of fakes. However, he is trying to make it known that you are going to have to look a little harder to realize that he is there. Cal is an artist that has created a career staying true to his independence, and this is an honest representation of him being aware and content with his success. The visuals are incredible, and I believe he does an incredible job of painting a picture that we can all create our own interpretations to.
