Coming out of Ohio, Cincinnati-native, YTB Trench, has been rising out of the trenches with his captivating brand of Hip-Hop. Sitting at over 320,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, he has continued to bless us with hits. After being introduced to the masses due to his features on Young Thug’s “Young Stoner Life”, the rapper has taken his hype and given us a new introspective hit titled “Toxicity”. The song is smooth and the lyricism gives us a closer look into the personal side of the emerging artist.
In the Cole Bennett-directed video for the song, YTB Trench is seen tucked away in the suburbs. As the video transitions, he is welcomed home by a significant lover before being held at gunpoint and robbed by his girl. After witnessing these real-life issues, Trench is forced to kill and is taken to jail. The video does a great job of showing how toxicity due to a setting can make you dive into the evils that surround you. In the end, he realizes that this was all a dream and he ultimately leaves. Overall, the video is great and I’m excited to see the future of the artist.
Lyrics That Stick:
“ODin’ off blessings but still attract all these enemies
Say they ain’t a cap, don’t know you, b**ch, you ain’t no kin to me”
