Waking up this morning, I was expecting today to be another day of going through thousands of submissions that lacked any character or feeling. However, I was completely thrown off guard when I came across emerging singer/songwriter Sighmon. With little to no knowledge on the emerging act, it’s rare that I get fully immersed in a new artist’s sound on the first listen. For me, it takes multiple listens and hours of listening to the rest of their discography. However, Sighmon’s new single “Austin” has me hooked.
The single is an upbeat summer jam that has an alternative sound that is addicting. Sighmon’s vocals are exceptional and his pocket control shows that he has a very captivating voice. In addition, the song is smooth and laced with lush melodies that were produced by Sighmon and his collaborator northxix. I don’t know what is in the water down there in Florida but they continue to put out talent in the alternative space. They have given us Dominic Fike, ALX, Nate Traveller, BabyJake, and now we get Sighmon. Overall, this song needs to be the soundtrack to your summer. It discusses “Summer Love”, the city of “Austin”, and it just radiates great vibes. With that being said, stream the visual above and vibe out.
