Ollie - You & I

Ollie’s reminiscing on a love that he’s let go and wants back and like he says, “You only know you love her, once you let her go.” We love how Ollie brings this very classic feel in his rapping to the plate, because it’s so specific to who he is as an artist and always so very poetic!

The video is very simple and to the point, not putting a lot of detail in the lighting or production, nothing over the top. This is so important though, because it gives us listeners a chance to really digest each and every line that pops up on the screen. Listen to the story he’s telling and Feel what he’s feeling!

The only setting in which you see the artists is in what seems to be a hotel room, very dimly light, bed unkempt and a bottle of his choosing on the bedside table. Ollie’s asking his love to come back to him, to be his. If you put yourself in his shoes or have ever been in those shoes, you know how terrifying and uneasy that is. Scared of the outcome, scared to be alone but even more terrified to not have tried.

His lines hit like a truck when you read them and has your mind running. He mentions how we as humans try to hide our emotions for “protection,” but our hearts are always speaking, and how confusing this love language is. Life would be so much easier if everyone just said what they felt all the time, but that doesn’t happen. At the end of the day Ollie says it perfectly, “It’s only ‘You & I.“
