Although it’s easy to think of Drake, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber when we think about the Canadian music scene, there is a lot of talent coming out of the country. One of the artists we have kept a close eye on recently is Filipino/Canadian singer-songwriter John Concepcion. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, John has been garnering a die-hard fanbase with his innate ability to craft emotional singles with raw lyricism and exceptional hooks. Now, he is back with his new single “Make Sure That I Don’t” and he accompanied the song with a well-crafted visual.

The goal of “Make Sure That I Don’t” was to have listeners learn from the situations of the past, versus looking at it in a negative way. There’s always something you could take that could benefit you in the future. In this song it may be about love and relationships, but really it could offer a bigger perspective.

Although we haven’t heard much of his discography, this single and visual are really a breath of fresh air compared to what we have been listening to lately. John has an incredible vocal range and his song is laced with smooth sonics and lush melodies that make this song sound like “ear-candy”. Overall, John has shown that he has what it takes to be a household name, and we consider him to be one of our artists to watch this year. With that being said, stream his latest Valentine’s EP “It’s Just Luv” that features the single, and you can watch the visual above.
