As an artist, it feels like you are expected to always put on a happy face. You have to make Tik-Toks, share every second of your life, and it appears that giving the world more of yourself is the only way to make it. Although those may be the expectations, not every artist finds it easy to do that. We all have different personalities and things that make us happy & sad. This week, I was happy to come across Trey Schafer’s latest single “Look Me in My Face”.

The record is an introspective piece that dives into the fears of having to put yourself on the Internet even if it makes you uncomfortable. Over the smooth acoustics, Schafer shines with his warm vocals and exceptional chorus. For me, this song is a safe space for all who have been scared to put themselves out there. It’s an anthemic single about taking charge of your life. Although it is easy to hide and run from the unknown, sometimes facing the unknown head on is all you need to really evolve as a person/artist. This single means so much to me, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. Stream the visual for the song above!
