Tre. Charles Shines On His Latest Offering “Lately.”

When it comes to music discovery, we as listeners are drawn to sounds that allow us to feel connected. Regardless of where we are in life, I think we all want art to somewhat mirror what we believe, and we search for sounds that we feel depict elements of who we are. For me, I aim to find artists that are pushing the boundaries sonically and lyrically because I believe there should be a risk factor when it comes to art. This week, I was happy to come across a rising artist from North Carolina who is doing just that. Hailing from Durham, which is about a couple hours away from me in Charlotte, rising artist, Tre. Charles, has caught my attention with his introspective new single “Lately.”.
On my first listen, I was surprised by Charles’ vocal range and overall ability to glide over the smooth sonics. His voice is exceptional, and I would compare it to artists such as Cautious Clay, Odie, and Sampha. Although I’m new to his sound, you can clearly hear he has the “IT” factor. Over the intoxicating synths and lush melodies, Charles’ warm vocal tone almost hypnotizes you for the song’s duration. Being from North Carolina myself, I’m always surprised when I come across a hidden talent from my home state. Tre. Charles is the future, and I can’t wait to see where his career goes.
