Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, singer/songwriter, BAYLI, has been captivating listeners with her anthemic production and lush melodies that were cultivated under her mentorship with Rick Rubin. Now, she is back with her latest single “foreigner” that gives an introspective take on her own self-identification of being a queer minority in the Big Apple. The song is all about self-expression and I love hearing her ability to mesh a sound that blends pop, soul, and hip-hop into one cohesive sound.
In the visual, BAYLI is followed around her neighborhood as she sings the song. The video alludes to her feeling of wanting to be included. In addition, it also shows how people can be marginalized based on prejudices and preconceived notions. Overall, the world needs this song, and we are all huge fans of BAYLI!
Lyrics That Stick:
“Tell me something sweet about you
Say you won’t lie
Feel the city all around us
Where we both hide”
