Cody Lawless is the new indie-pop incarnation of singer/songwriter Cody James Henn. Born and raised in Mission, BC, Cody toured North America under his former project KNOWN. and garnered over 30 million streams. Now, Cody is transitioning from his previous sound to one that embraces his authentic self. With his innate ability to craft infectious singles that pull at your heartstrings, he continues to transport the listener to feel the bliss of a summer’s day with sincerity and enthusiasm. His storytelling is exceptional, and his songs have a dreamy aura that is so inviting. Now, he enters our pages with his latest effort “Grace”.

On the video, Cody says “‘Grace’ is the final addition to the series of music videos for my album. The visual aspect has always been completely correlated to the music. I like to make my visuals like my art, sporadic and inviting. ‘Grace’ is just that, a song with an invitation to the feelings of admiration while the video shows a side of sporadic art I’ve curated.” His collaborator, Nicky Films, spoke on the video as well, “With this being the final video for the album, we wanted to inject it full of Cody’s energy in order to put a cherry on top to the ‘Happy Camper’ name.”

Speaking on the inspiration for the song itself, Lawless said, “‘Grace’ is a story about my actual friend Grace. The closest I have ever been to being in love. It’s the story about fantasizing about someone else. I wrote this song after having broken up with my ex-girlfriend and meeting grace for the first time. One of the three songs on this album that I produced myself. Very simple three track production. Guitar, bass, drums. The lyrics allude to a sense of excitement, feeling crazy for feeling for someone so deeply.”

Overall, this is my song of the week so stream the visual above!
