After releasing ‘Cali’ in 2016, emerging rockstar, Jutes, blesses us with a revitalized new single that shares a more upbeat outlook on the Golden State in ‘California’. In the version of ‘Cali’ released in 2016, Jutes shared his feelings of wanting to go to the Golden State, and it discussed leaving a loved one to follow your dreams. The newest version of ‘California’ explores most of the same topics, but it adds a lighter and more upbeat touch compared to the last one. In this version, Jutes talks about moving out of his hometown to the “City of Angels” to truly follow his dreams, and he talks about the future success he hopes to obtain with the ones he loves. Although the single is one of his best this year, the video he made to accompany the single puts everything into perspective.
In the SirJhn-directed video, the visual starts with a postcard of Jutes in California and transitions to the rising artist singing in different locations. As the video progresses, we see Jutes on a journey packing his life up and hitting the road. His journey takes him to Los Angeles where he currently resides. Overall, the video has a perfect concept, and it has such a light-hearted feel. This is currently my favorite song from the artist, and the video is a must-watch.
