anees Proves That He Can’t Be Put Into A Box With His Charming New Single “what lovers do”

If we could give an award out for the best new artist of 2021, then we would have to give it to rising independent rapper/singer anees. Over the last couple of months, anees has consistently dropped vulnerable records that are laced with raw lyrics and infectious hooks that have a level or relatability that keep people coming back for more. For me, anees has to be one of the most genuine artists I have been able to get to know, and we have continued to keep a close eye on his journey. Now, the rising artist is back with his latest release “what lovers do” which is his first dive into the r&b genre.
“what lovers do” is full of lush melodies and it packs a groove that is intoxicating. In addition to the infectious hook, the song’s ability to mix tantalizing pop energy with soothing r&b elements brings back nostalgia of my first time listening John Legend’s “Green Light”. Lyrically, anees is exceptional, and anees does a great job of maintaining the single’s sexy and intimate feel.
