When it comes to crafting innovative singles with captivating sonics and exceptional hooks, rising alt-pop outfit, Calabasas (duo of Watrcup and Franskiiz), has continued to pull us into their world with infectious singles. After initially drawing us in with their single “Voices” that featured Marc E. Bassy, the duo have returned with their latest offering “The Mend”.

“The Mend” is a personal deep dive into a tumultuous relationship, and showcases the band’s versatility by seamlessly incorporating rock & alternative songwriting into their historically hip-hop-leaning sound.

Over the song’s 3-minute runtime, we hear the duo sing effortlessly over the smooth sonics as they talk about moments of vulnerability. Although I have gravitated to more of their more upbeat singles, there is a rawness and personable side to this single that really stands out to me. Overall, the song shows a new side to the duo and you can expect to hear this and more on their upcoming EP. With that being said, stream the song below and vibe out.
