When it comes to music, I think we all yearn for those certain songs that can soundtrack our personal lives. After going through such a depressing 2020, I believe everyone has been skeptical about what this year will entail. Although it hasn’t been as traumatizing as the year before, I have constantly searched for something to keep positive about on a daily basis. With his new single, Shawn Mathews brings the ‘Sunshine’ I need to get me through these chaotic times. ‘Sunshine’ is a breath of fresh air, and I smile from ear to ear every time I listen to it. If this record was in a movie, it would be in a romantic comedy where the two protagonists realize they love each other. The song is that beautiful and uplifting.

‘Sunshine’ is bedroom pop in its best form. With its guitar melodies and infectious filled bassline, the song radiates the joy that we have all been missing in our lives. In addition, Mathews delivers an infectious hook that will keep you hooked from start to finish. If you are a fan of Jeremy Zucker, The Wallows, or Dominic Fike, this is the song for you.

Lyrics That Stick:

“I’ve been getting some sunshine lately

No more dealing with dark clouds daily”

If you like this single, show it some love by voting for it with the wave button at the top of the article!

Sunshine is an upbeat song about better, happier, and sunnier days after feelings of hopelessness. With a bedroom/indie pop/rock type of feel similar to Jeremy Zucker, Clairo, Dominic Fike, Omar Apollo, and the Wallows, the song uses just vocals, electric guitars, synth pads, synth arps, live programmed drums, and a bass guitar to bring it all together.
