When it comes to discovering new music, I rarely find artists that truly captivate me on the first listen. However, when I do find those unique artists that are pushing the boundaries, it feels like a high that cant be depicted in words. As of recent, the oversaturation of music has made it harder and harder to find these hidden gems, but BangerOfTheDay newcomer, James Mantis, has to be one of the most exciting breakthrough artists as of late.
His music is a nice blend of indie and alt-rock with experimental elements that remind me of artists like Jean Dawson and Junior Varsity. Mantis is direct and his sound packs a punch that will make you want to mosh pit all night long.
On his latest hit “SUCKAPUNCH”, James dives deep into his wheelhouse to craft a single that has an anthemic feel. The song was produced by Tony Davia of Younger Hunger, and Mantis is heard over the song’s 2-minute duration pouring his emotions on the pacey sonics with his in-your-face vocal delivery. Overall, this is one of the best songs I have heard this year, and James has certainly gotten our attention. So, if you are looking to find an artist that will have a big breakthrough this year, stream this song and rock out!
