For anyone that knows me, I have always been captivated by artists that bring a raw and introspective feel to their sound. However, with the oversaturation of music, it is often hard to find music that is refreshing and that really moves the needle for me. However, rising singer, Eleanor Kingston, has continued to meet my expectations as an artist and fan of music. After captivating me as a listener with her song “ilikegirls”, Kingston returns to our pages with her latest release “she hates me.” and it is one of her rawest singles to date.

The song is led by engaging guitar riffs and introspective verses that build into a hook that has an angsty and intoxicating feel. Sonically, the song does a great job of pulling you in with slow paced verses before bringing in a hook that seems bigger than life. It’s almost like someone pouring gasoline and then throwing a lit match on top of it in your face. It’s straight beautiful. When it comes to the song’s meaning, ‘she hates me.’ is an alt-rock record about Eleanor Kingston’s deepest insecurities while coming into her own as a young adult. The song means a lot to Eleanor because it candidly sheds light on the anguish she feels while experiencing betrayal, struggling to take care of her health, and the pain that fosters as a result. Created out of a bedroom in Los Angeles, Eleanor collaborated with her best friends and producers, DXCKLIN & BOIA, to build their own personal interpretation of classic rock. With the help of Quinby (Grady) Demmitt, guitarist, and Henry Hinton, drummer, the quintet created a hard rock anthem that will relate to any listener who wants to cheers to being young and making bad decisions. Overall, this has been one of my favorite singles of the month and I can’t wait to hear more from the artist.
