Tate McRae - rubberband

Tate McRae is a 17-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter, and her new single has a very innovative take on love. Her latest single 'rubberband' is about a lost love that she called off. As I listened to the single the first time, I realized that the rubberband is used as a coping mechanism to forget about her significant other. As she laments over this person, she snaps the rubberband on her wrist to distract herself from these thoughts. However, it seems like she isn't fully ready to let go.
'The Andrew Goldstein and Natalie Solomon (Naliya) produced track is a perfect fit for Tate and her smooth vocals. As she reflects throughout the record, I find myself grasping to every word as if she's bringing back distant memories of exes I could never let go of. The pain is undeniable for Tate, but she would rather give it to herself than watch someone bring that upon her. With her poetic lyrics and ability to craft amazing records, this will be another big year for the young sensation. If you are looking to get over an ex, this is the song for you!
Lyrics That Stick:
“I hate that I never know
Why you're still so caught up in my head”
