Massachusetts based singer/songwriter, Johan Lenox, is spreading his wings with his new single ‘phases’. Although many may be new to the young talent, Lenox has been working tirelessly behind the scenes as a singer, songwriter, and composer for years. He has had placements with artists such as Kanye West, Travis Scott, and Lil Nas X. In addition, he is an award-winning composer. With his latest offering, Lenox recruits Boston rapper Cousin Stizz for his first major release of 2021.
The single is catchy from start to finish, and the use of classic hip-hop percussion and ambient sounds provide enough mystery that keeps the listener on their toes. The production is innovative, and Johan effortlessly glides over it with melodies that are complex yet infectious. With Johan as the track’s driving force, Cousin Stizz provides a moment of clarity to the single. As he raps, Stizz seems to share opposing views to Johan’s upbringing and view on adult life that present the audience with a conversational feel between the two artists. The record is raw and relatable in many ways, and we believe that this song is something you should have in your playlist.
Lyrics That Stick:
“Watch too many legends lost in their prime
That's why we sip Henny and we walk with the nine
That's why we stack plenty and go all for the shine”
