Did you know one of our favorite Australian bands’ name was conjured by their childhood dog? Such a clever name for their members of Old Mervs, who’ve known each other since childhood. The chemistry and brilliance within their music are undeniable. One song that stood out from their album was “Best I Know,” an old-school, Matchbox 20 sound encompasses throughout the song. The triumphant instrumental paired with such a rugged song aids in the song’s longevity.

‘Best I Know ‘ gives off this cinematic element and holds a punch. It’s the type of song you’d expect at the climax of a movie, as the main character chases their true love. The buildup is another important detail of why this particular tune caught our attention. Old Mervs did an impeccable job of using the raw emotion of their vocals in the beginning, then proceeding to transform the song with the instrumental.
