Emerging artists Jez Dior, La Bouquet, and Lostboycrow are out with a brand new release, the single “Friends (1994).” This team effort, produced by Evan Ambrose, is both a beautiful homage to 90’s punk pop and rock, as well as 90’s and 2000’s hip-hop. With quality performances from each of the six collaborators, this track is a beautiful example of six minds coming together as one. Written by Bryan Sammis, Chris Blair, Drew Bruchs, Evan Ambrose, and Jez Dior, “Friends (1994)” is packed full of surprising emotions.
Everyone has their chance to shine on this single, and each artist contributes only as much as is needed. The most impressive thing about this track is definitely the balance and care with which it was put together. All of these artists have been picking up steam in 2020, and a collaboration between the three of them shows that they’re as tapped into their contemporaries as they are their own creativity.
Lyrics That Stick:
“Your tongue was razor sharp
My mind was half of my heart
I probably told you something stupid like "I love you"
That night in Echo Park until 5am just talking (Were we just talking?)”
