If you have ever heard of the alt-rock/indie group Current Blue, then you have already heard of rising South Carolina artist STEPHAN. After coming on the scene with his lush melodies and being a lead vocalist for Current Blue, STEPHAN has had us all in awe with his ability to craft infectious records. This time around, he links with fellow South Carolina rapper Britton Rauscher on their new single “hamptons”.
The single gives an exciting look into the lifestyle’s of the rich and out of control. Throughout the single we hear STEPHAN discussing losing himself in the lifestyle that is perpetrated in such a high class land, and he shares the harsh reality of losing people close due to real life situations. Although the song is backed by smooth 808s and a melodic touch on the production, STEPHAN and Britton give us a song that has a lot of meaning behind it. Even if we as listeners tend to latch on to more of the lavish bars and punchlines, “hamptons” is about hanging on to your identity even if the world is changing around you. Overall, the song is one of the best we have heard this week, and I can’t wait for the two artists to collaborate again.

Every day lose a real one for a fake one”
