The amount of musical maturity and self-awareness it takes to write songs that are this personal and blunt is no easy feat. Lucky for us, we know people like Garr that continue to lead the way with this relatable approach to songwriting! ‘Bacardi’ is not only infectiously catchy, but acts as a peek inside Garr’s most vulnerable state.
His smooth-as-butter voice over top of the washed-out guitar strumming sets a perfect scene at the beginning of this song. The best part about it too is how well Garr begins to tell the story of this certain relationship and explains what initially went wrong. Following this story throughout the rest of the song and drawing full circle on the final hook, we were fully captivated for the entire 3 minutes.
