Hailing from Guelph, Ontario, five-piece alternative rock band Excuse Me. have been garnering a lot of attention with their genre bending sound that dips into folk, funk, pop, and punk. With over 5 years together, the band was originated by Adam Kuhrt, Aleks Liskauskas, Dylan Creed, Heyden Jennekens, and Jo Seymour. Although I’m very new to their sound, they debut on our pages with their electric new single “Cops”.
Although I was expecting a single that would discuss the surface level thoughts about cops, I got something so much better. The record is about wanting to pursue something so bad that not even a police chase could stop you. Drawing inspiration from the gritty sound of bands such as PUP/Wolf Alice, Excuse Me. was able to mesh those sonic elements with a spacey touch which made this record a masterpiece. “Cops” is a vibrant single and every time I press play my blood gets pumping. The hook is exceptional, and the urgent lyrics are matched by a truly energized and locked-in performance. With that being said, stream the song below and vibe out!
