London-based artist Ella Mai has a beautiful blend of Pop and R&B in the works right now. Her latest single, “Not Another Love Song,” lives up to its title. Produced by Boi 1da, Jahaan Sweet, and The Rascals, this track shows an astonishing amount of understanding in the balance between the instrumental and Ella’s vocals.

With grunge and noise reminiscent of Mura Masa’s work, Quiet Bison creates a beautiful setting for Reo Cragun’s vocals to thrive and connect with listeners as deeply as possible. I found myself alternating between listening to the production and lyrics as the two are both standout parts of the song. “High Like This” is a beautifully 2020 release.
