Oof. Grab your tissue box for this one. Not even necessarily because it’s so depressing, because I feel like there’s a very sincere, hopeful tone to the songwriting. I say to grab the tissues because of coltonjae’s insanely genuine aura, making it clear just how meaningful this song is to him, and in effect making it meaningful to the listener.
Relaying such vulnerable stories and experiences over top of these coming-of-age type instrumentation patterns just creates such an amazing listening experience. Those layers of melodies and harmonies throughout too make it feel larger-than-life! Even after that big hook, dialing back into a solemn guitar picking just hits in a way I can’t even describe. Hats off to coltonjae for this one - we can’t wait to hear more.
Lyrics That Stick:
“You’re hurting clearly
I think it’s time that I let you go”
