Although a lot of music seems repetitive nowadays, there are a group of artists and singles that still push the boundaries. Even if experimentation isn’t for everyone, I believe meshing genres and searching for a new sound is a part of growth and it allows fans to push their musical palette. One artist that I know is pushing music forward with his genre-bending sound is Obi Ben. With his new single titled ‘Call Me’, he hits us with a pop & r&b fused record that details the complications of falling for someone that doesn’t know what they want.
The single is smooth and it’s layered with pop undertones that match with his infectious melodies to perfection. In addition, the beat is sonically pleasing, and there is a layer of emotion that can be felt within his confessional lyricism. With this being the first song I have heard from him, I can tell that he is an artist that will pull at your heartstrings with his ability to pen authentic stories that are relatable.
