When it comes to songs that speak on certain places in the United States, California always seems to be the go-to for artists. Over the years we have been blessed with many songs about the “Golden State”, but it seems that ShaqIsDope takes the cake for having one of the most timeless songs about the state. In his single ‘Cali Love’, the rising artist pens a song that talks about the beautiful weather, palm trees, and ultimately finishes with a descriptive love story that is relatable to anyone who listens.
Although I have not heard many songs from Shaq, he has an innate ability to create smooth records that lyrically paint a picture that can be seen through a lens by anyone that listens. In ‘Cali Love’ he raps about putting in work for this relationship that he started with a significant other in Cali. The song serves as ode to the beauty and the opportunities that the Toronto-native obtained while spending time on the west coast. After listening to hundreds of song this week, this was obviously a standout, and I will definitely have this on replay.
Lyrics That Stick:
“Name ringin' in my head when I'm intoxicated
You wanna fall in love,
Really not for the idea, kinda outdated”
