Avara- “I DON’T WANNA PARTY”
R&B songstress and hitmaker, Avara, returns with her new single “I DON’T WANNA PARTY”. The record follows her previous singles “golden” & “if you picked up”, and this may be her best work to date. “I DON’T WANNA PARTY” is an atmospheric single laced with lush melodies, warm harmonies, and a hook that we can all relate to. With its low tempo but dynamic sound, the single encapsulates the notions of learning how to say no, prioritizing the future, and setting boundaries. For me, it’s the bad girl anti-summer anthem for anyone wishing to persist through challenges without the distractions of mindless indulgence or superficial pursuits. So, if you are a fan of Ravyn Lenae or Tinashe, click play below.
Marie Haw- “Dark Days”
Although she may be unknown for now, rising singer-songwriter, Marie Haw, is a hidden gem that deserves to shine. She is a butterfly ready to spread her wings. For those that are new to her, Marie’s sound can be described as a mixture of Soccer Mommy, Courtney Barnett, & Clairo all into one pleasing sound. Although it can be seen as bedroom pop, I love how she meshes her moody & smooth vocals over bright self-produced instrumentals. Now, she debuts on our pages with her latest single “Dark Days”. Marie Haw's exceptional storytelling shines through as she captures the dramatic and comedic essence of a sensitive lover reacting to a minor betrayal. With infectious energy driven by electric guitar, melodic keys, and drums that pack a punch, ‘Dark Days' takes you on a captivating journey of vulnerability and emotional turmoil. As a DIY-artist, Marie is on a path to becoming a household name. Until then, stream her new single below.
Maya Malkin- “Monopoly”
Montreal-turned-Toronto based artist, Maya Malkin, is the popstar that you need to be tapped into. She is making pop with a purpose. Starting her solo career during the pandemic, Maya has continued to cultivate a unique following with her exceptional brand of pop. Now, three years after the beginning of her solo project, she debuts on our pages with her fiery single “Monopoly”. “Monopoly” is a song about a specific personality type and gatekeeper that can be found in any industry. The record is laced with intoxicating 808s, exceptional vocal cadences, and her hook will make you want to stick up a middle finger to those that doubted. Stream the record below.
Young León x Charcuterie- “Brain Games”
Summer is here and we know that you need new music. If that is the case, then you need to tap into rising artist Young León. Young León is a Los-Angeles based artist that is known for crafting infectious Alt-Pop records. Although it’s easy to point out his vocal talents, you can’t have a successful Young León record without BOTD favorite Charcuterie. Together, the duo craft records that are influenced by mellow beach vibes and the sunny weather of California. They are a breath of fresh air. This week, they land on our pages with their latest single “Brain Games”. “Brain Games” is a captivating song exploring mystery, late-night adventures, and the complexities of relationships in a melodic journey. Sonically, the song radiates good vibes and the vocals are exceptional. The chorus is a chef’s kiss, and the melodies are so engaging. This record is a must-listen.
XINCLAIR- “DOING WRONG”
For those that know me, I don’t usually call “Song of the Summer” for any record until August. However, XINCLAIR may have me thinking otherwise with his latest release “DOING WRONG”. Respectfully, I don’t even know how to describe this record. It’s a Dancehall & Hip-Hop masterclass with pop undertones. The 808s hit perfectly and XINCLAIR’s vocals are exceptional. I have had this song on repeat all day, and I just can’t stop playing it. This very well may be THE “Song of the Summer”. Stream the song below to catch the vibe while it’s still early.
24hrs x Holly- “Play With You”
BOTD favorite 24hrs linked with Portuguese artist Holly on their latest single “Play With You”. The record is a UK-Garage leaning House jam that was made for this time of year. “Play With You” is laced with lush melodies, bouncy 808s, & four-to-the-floor tune. This is an anthemic tune that deserves your time, so stream the record below.
