Astrid S - It’s Ok If You Forget Me

While at first “It’s Ok If You Forget Me” seems like your garden variety breakup song, Astrid S takes control of the cliché to subvert it and explore her own headspace. Sometimes things that we think should impact us in a major way leave us feeling more of the same than we could have imagined. Coping with that hedonic treadmill is a major part of everyone’s life. Astrid certainly still is. Underwhelmed by her response, the pop darling questions what she should feel on the stunning track, co-produced by Astrid herself and Jack & Coke.
Just as the lyrics on this single delve into subversion and questioning, the production darkens correspondingly with Astrid’s mental state. While she sees the maturity in not holding onto a relationship, does the lack of hurt imply that she’s less capable of feeling in the first place? We hope Astrid S finds her way out of this cycle, and making this song just might be the best path through.
Lyrics That Stick:
“I don't feel empty now that you're gone
Does that mean it didn't mean nothing at all?
And I'll tell you what the worst is
It's the way it doesn't hurt when I wish it did”
