Josh A - Mood Swings
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Josh A has never been one to shy away from vulnerability in his music. Coming from a place where people listen and relate to him, he’s been able to give millions of people a voice by sharing his own personal journey and story through song. His latest release, ‘Mood Swings,’ is a beautiful representation of not only Josh A’s talent and growth, but his ability to keep it real and not be afraid to share his feelings.
The guitar, melodies, and harmonies in this one are placed perfectly. The first drop into the hook is attention-grabbing, to say the least. We knew it was good when we were trying to sing along before even knowing the lyrics! For Josh A to hit us with that catchy hook while still being able to formulate the story he’s telling from the start, takes a lot of skill.
Hats off to Josh A for this track! You should definitely go give this one a listen today if you haven’t.

30 - Pop Song
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Most 30 songs leave us speechless regardless, but this latest one is in a league of its own. ‘Pop Song’ is a look into this artist’s perspective on systemic racism happening, and it’s an amazing thing to see.
We had to run it back 4-5 times before even writing this blog. Every single line in the song is meaningful, intentional, and conscious. 30 speaks about his position as a white artist profiting in the music industry, and how it’s his duty to therefore speak out and use his platform for good. Bar after bar, he doesn’t shy away from speaking the hard truths. From admitting ignorance when he was younger, to calling out Trump supporters, to motivating white people to step up and fix the problem they created, this is exactly the song we need right now.
Major props to 30 for this record. Please go give this a listen today if you haven’t!

Anderson .Paak - Lockdown (Music Video)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
It’s music like this that separates the legendary artists from the temporary artists. Anderson .Paak’s new song and visual, ‘Lockdown,’ is an instant classic and a perfect example of people using their platforms to inspire change.
A feeling of unity and strength is conveyed throughout the whole video. For example, the first scene shows Syd, Dominic Fike, and other artists present alongside .Paak. We even get a scene later on of Jay Rock rapping for Syd, which is crazy in itself. As the video progresses, we see .Paak reflecting from different situations; needing to be calmed down by a friend, walking on empty streets at night, and finally, comforting his son as .Paak himself sheds tears.
As listeners, we get to hear Anderson .Paak’s perspective on everything from COVID-19, to police brutality, to empowering the black community. So, yeah… we think it’s safe to say he’s one of the legendary artists at this point. Go give this one an honest listen today!

KYLE - Bouncin (Music Video)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
This one is sure to have you vibin, head-bobbin, and ‘Bouncin!’ SuperDuperKyle has been putting out singles for his upcoming album which is all about getting back to his roots and making music for his day ones. This track and visual are nothing short of that.
After a minute or so of flexing and looking over an empty venue, a switch-up occurs and KYLE is shown linking with his original video director from back in the day. The second half of the video seemed oddly familiar to us, but we couldn’t put our finger on what it was. Then, much to our and everyone else’s surprise, KYLE reveals the locations at the end of the video. His former high school, neighborhood, and other locations where his first ever viral videos were shot as K.I.D. are the locations of this video. They went back to those spots with the same crew!
KYLE has never been one to lack creativity, but he rally outdid himself with this one. We can’t wait for the album!

J-Wright - Locked Inside (Music Video)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Has there ever been a song more relatable than this new J-Wright joint? We don’t think so. The ‘Locked Inside’ song and visual is a perfect representation of all of us currently.
It honestly might be impossible to not sing along to this hook right off the bat. Aside from J-Wright’s infectious sound and voice already, this hook is super catchy. We could keep going on about the song, but we’d like to focus on the video, too. It’s a real-life, behind-the-scenes look into J-Wright’s daily life, which is actually really cool. As a fan, being able to see him in his home and personal studio feels inviting and intimate. We don’t see that much from artists, so it’s awesome to have here.
As an artist, the number one priority needs to be creativity and adaptation in an ever-changing industry. Well, that’s exactly what J-Wright did by putting this video together, and in a high-quality fashion we might add. Go give this music video a watch today!

J. Cole - Snow On Tha Bluff
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Wow. Just wow. I think everyone who’s heard this already would say the same. J. Cole needs no introduction, and ‘Snow On Tha Bluff’ doesn’t either.
As an artist known for being the smart, woke, conscious rapper, Cole begins the first few lines by talking about how most people hold him on a pedestal and that there’s plenty people smarter than him, including a girl he recently saw on the timeline. He raps about how she was calling people out for not speaking up or being insensitive during these trying times. As this story unfolds, Cole offers points of perspective like how we should lead with love and kindness if we truly want to help people change their mindsets.
What makes an artist great is their ability to bring a new perspective to the table that sparks change, and that’s exactly what J. Cole does. He doesn’t come from a prideful place, acknowledging his own faults, and simply states his viewpoints on what he’s personally experienced. This is exactly what we needed right now- go give this one an honest listen today.

Polo G - 21 (Music Video)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Everything Cole Bennett touches turns into gold. We’re all aware of that. But when you throw Polo G into the pot with his new track ‘21,’ it’s bound to be a hit. In what feels like a tribute to Juice WRLD with lyrics and images referencing the late rapper, Polo G tells his own story of growing up and experiencing ups and downs.
First off, the visual editing in these videos is unmatched. Slow-motion bullets, floating guns, and moving paintings make this feel like a cinematic blockbuster. As Polo G goes from scene to scene, he invites us into his own journey of growth and experiences. It’s always inspiring seeing rappers use their talents to speak about real-life stuff, as opposed to just faking it or rapping about stuff they didn’t actually go through.
You definitely need to watch this video through more than once to take it all in. Go give it a watch if you haven’t yet!

Jez Dior - 1992
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Need a song to sing, dance, and bang your head to at the same time? Jez Dior has got you covered. As an artist that isn’t new to bending genres and creating his own unique sound, Jez Dior somehow finds a way to put out hit after hit, while adding new twists and styles on each one. His latest, ‘1992,’ is a culmination of many different sounds coming together to create one punk/rock/soul/hip-hop masterpiece.
The best part about alternative artists who have experience rapping is the fact that they still hold onto the skill of writing clever lyrics with high-level flow during songs of other genres. Though the melodies and beat make it feel like a punk song, the lyrics during the first verse are filled with stacked rhymes and rapper-like cadence and flow. Not to mention the hook, which is an absolute explosion of perfection!
We’ll definitely be bumping this one all summer. Go give it a listen if you haven’t yet!
Lyrics That Stick:
“Maybe you should’ve done your homework
Don’t you know I got a lot to lose too
Takes a lot to keep me sober”
yaeow - Do You Ever Think of Me? (feat. Rxseboy)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
It’s a feeling a lot of us are all too familiar with; wondering if someone you used to spend so much time with still thinks of you the way you still think of them. Yaeow and Rxseboy, artists accustomed to putting those raw feelings into words, explain that one beautifully in this track, ‘Do You Ever Think of Me?’ from yaeow’s new EP ‘Worn Out Heart.’
The mix of lofi drums and ukelele strumming creates a whole vibe in itself on this one. Then once you add in the vocals, which include high-octave layers and harmonies throughout, it’s a beautiful mesh of sounds. Yaeow’s ability to construct a story in this song might be the most impressive, though. We truly felt the words being sung during each part of the song, feeling like it was hitting just a little too close to home. Do yourself a favor and give this one a listen today!

“I try to stay strong

Tyla Yaweh - Tommy Lee (feat. Post Malone)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
The moment we saw these two melody kings on one track, we couldn’t hit play fast enough. Tyla Yaweh is at it again with his latest, ‘Tommy Lee,’ and this time adding Post Malone to the line up.
As if the first verse wasn’t catchy enough, when that hook comes back around we were already trying to sing along. The melodies in the instrumental harmonize beautifully with the melodies being sung, creating a really cool sound that needs to be blasted wherever you are. On top of that, Post Malone’s verse creates a nice break in the beat, and well, it’s Post Malone, so… you can already guess it’s probably amazing. In which case you’d be right.
Another great track to add to your summer playlist; go give ‘Tommy Lee’ a listen today!

The Kid LAROI - GO (feat. Juice WRLD)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
This track is about to ‘GO’ crazy this summer! A legend in the making, The Kid LAROI, has been one of the most consistent up-and-comers this year, releasing what feels like hit after hit. What makes this track even more special is the Juice WRLD feature. Before passing last year, Juice actually mentored The Kid LAROI as the two were very close. It’s likely this song had been in the vault for awhile, so seeing it drop now is really amazing.
The cadences, melodies and switch-ups throughout this track are beautifully reminiscent of Juice’s older stuff, while maintaining the infectiousness that comes with every The Kid LAROI song. It will be exciting to watch this song grow and catch on even more this summer. Go give it a listen today if you haven’t yet!

Torrentiiial & RUSL - Sweet Tooth Baby (feat. YOREN!)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
We sure have a ‘Sweet Tooth’ for tracks like this one! Everything about ‘Sweet Tooth Baby’ screams song-for-the-summer. Artists like Torrentiiial, RUSL, and YOREN! individually bring a level of versatility and uniqueness in each song, and now they decided to team up for one? Yeah, we could already tell this one would be crazy.
The numerous switch-ups in flow, melody, and cadence bring this track to a whole different level. As a listener, it’s so refreshing to hear that ability being put on display while also maintaining a level of structure and commercial value. This track is easy to sing along to yet never too repetitive. That’s a tough line to hit, but these artists did it perfectly.
We’ll be singing this one all summer, and once you hear it, you will be too! Go stream ‘Sweet Tooth Baby’ ASAP!

Dylan Reese - Utopia
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Seeing artists use their platforms as a way to raise awareness about injustice and inspire their followers to act has been super inspiring lately. With his newest release, ‘Utopia,’ Dylan Reese is doing just that.
Dylan Reese is currently rolling out his project ‘Rap Dylan 2' and had plans to release the third single from it this week. However, with all the injustice and hurt around the world, he felt compelled to release this one instead. The song is simple, yet covers many things that are on the minds of us all. From touching on his own privilege, to the lack of support and empathy we’re seeing from some, to his hope in humanity to bring change, this song is exactly what we needed right now.
Understanding that sometimes, things need to be put on hold for the greater good takes a certain level of selflessness and humility. We’re thankful for Dylan Reese and artists alike who are speaking out, whether from a place of leadership or allyship, helping to bring change and strive towards equality.

Kaiser York - Pretty Face
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Does anyone need a song for those late night summer drives with friends? Kaiser York has got you covered. His latest release, ‘Pretty Face,’ is the perfect bop for any occasion this summer.
The moment the first chorus begins, we knew this one was going to be killer. The guitar meshing with the live drums creates a 2000’s alternative rock vibe, carrying a somewhat nostalgic feel to it. On top of that, Kaiser York hits us with the catchiest melody of 2020 and incorporates beautifully tucked harmonies and dubs throughout. All of these sounds coming together like that is sure to have you turning the volume on max. Go give this track a listen today if you haven’t!

Brandon ThaKidd - Peon (feat. 637godwin)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
From the crazy instrumental, to the numerous melodies and cadences, to the infectious flow, this track is needs to be on every summer playlist ASAP! Brandon TheKidd and 637godwin teaming up on something like this is truly a dangerous combination… it’s way too much heat for one track.
The first melody at the beginning of this song is beautiful. Then, the second melody hits and that one is also beautiful. Then the third, fourth, fifth, etc. hit just the same. See the trend here? It’s not common that artists will change up flows and melodies throughout a song and have them all slap.
We can’t wait to blast this one in a car or at a party this summer! Go give it a listen if you haven’t yet today.

Cliff Savage - Metamorphasis (Freestyle)
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
Cliff Savage might be one of the coldest lyricists coming up right now. With a large body of work and a multitude of straight bangers, he’s not showing any sign of slowing down with his latest release, ‘Metamorphasis.’
The beginning of this track starts off with a smooth hook-like melody, really setting the tone for the rest of the song. Repeating the phrase, “say what you wanna say,” as if he’s telling himself to then say what he truly wants to say when he begins rapping.
With a length of just 1 minute and 4 seconds, no time is left to be wasted and Cliff Savage comes in with a crazy verse, highlighting stories of his personal life while maintaining a high-level flow and punch lines throughout. We’re super impressed by this track and eager to hear more from this artist!

Silky smooth melodies and layers take this track to new heights. From the vulnerable, story-telling verses into the falsetto part of the hook, this is sure to be stuck in your head. Ryan Caraveo - Nutcase
By: Trevor Siebold IG/Twitter: @musicbytrev
You’d have to be a ‘Nutcase’ not to listen to this one! If you know Ryan Caraveo, you know to expect the unexpected. You also know to expect an absolute banger, regardless of the style or genre this versatile artist throws at you.
The smooth electric guitar introducing the song had us saying “we like it already” within the first 10 seconds. The first verse then progresses in what feels like a slow and steady build up, leading to the vocal ballad of a hook that is sure to have you mesmerized.
What’s really interesting about this track is the lack of drums throughout. That bare feeling creates room for vulnerability in lyrics by directing the listener’s focus entirely on the vocals. As a listener, you truly feel what Ryan Caraveo is saying in this one, and possibly even relate. Definitely give this song a listen if you haven’t yet.

Once you hear that perfection of a voice, you feel as though Christian Lalama is speaking right to you! This artist is high on our radar here at Banger Of The Day all for good reason, because he has the God given talent and lengths of becoming HUGE!
His voice reminds us of a Justin Bieber and Chris Brown mix and you’re pulled into the depths of this song instantly. From the overall production, instrumental and harmonies that make up this single, you’re sure ‘Gotta Be You’ will be overheard on the radio ASAP!
Watch out, because Lalama has the makings of a heartthrob with his voice alone and you’re going to have to hold your girl tight from running into his arms! When we think of the next superstar of 2020, Christian Lalama… it’s just ‘Gotta Be You!’

‘Girls from the North’ is an infectious tune with all the pieces to create a true summer vibe. A simple yet genius hook to sing along to starts the song off and gets the point across right away.
